Las Vegas Wrap up - see blog - long post

well - i wrote a blog piece late Monday night after winning the LIPS Championship but it got lost in the RIO internet ether and I was too tired to re-post at that point.

So here we goooo....

Monday's win was awesome. Exciting, fun and rewarding on so many levels. People have been so generous with their kind comments.

The best part about playing the final table and ultimately winning was being able to do so with great pals around me. In particular, Toby Tinordi. If it was not for a late night text from Toby on Saturday basically saying we had to play on Sunday I would not have entered the Ladies International Poker Series Championship. Thanks Toby!

Then there's Don Tinordi. Awesome dealer, pit boss, player and strategist. I asked his opinion on Monday morning re: short stack play. Great advice - bad student. After the 1st hand of Day 2 i never played short stacked again.

My poker pals Sonja and Rie are the best railers. It is so great to have strong women who play strong poker in my life and these are two of the best. Thanks for the railing and talks.

I made some great new poker pals at this tournament. My first table was filled with fun women playing good poker. We laughed so much despite fighting for each other's chips. I really appreciate the support of the women from that table despite the fact that I took some of you out. :-)

There was quite a gaggle of women from Calgary playing in Las Vegas. I really appreciated the hugs of support particularly from Brenda W. and Deb H.. Dana and Vickie were cheering too even though their very good friend Steph was right in the mix.

The LIPS organizers produced a great event. The prize pool was great, the additional prizes are wonderful.

Below is a pic of the final hand. I've had so many people ask how the hell I won with 4-2. Basically - i was in BB with lots of chips.We were both quite deep. We saw a flop. hit the 4 - Steph bet i called with bottom pair. usually ahead in heads up. Turn was the 2. Next thing I know I am calling the all in and done.

Steph played well to make it to Heads up just like all the women who made it to the final table. Once we got to Heads up we decided to chop the $$ for 1st and 2nd and then agreed to play on until a winner was crowned. We each won $11K minus taxes.

It was an amazing experience. Final thanks to Meaghan who is so great and just always knows....




Next up - the Calgary Stampede Classic on July 17th. Yee haw!

Day off

Wow it is hot - my summer black is not working for me. Oye!!!

Putzed around all day. A little cash. Up A quick satellite for the WSOP tomorrow - down but fun.

My pals Brenda and Tammy went deep in Venetian. Congrats!

Walked the strip. Always live it - albeit I am melted but excellent weight loss program.

Now at Aria for 7:00 pm tourney. Should be fun. Low pressure. Keeps me out of trouble.

#WSOP event 48

Getting ready to play $1500 NL event at noon. Had a great sleep after a great day of poker and seeing old pals yesterday. So feeling good. Nothing out of the ordinary so far today- I am trying not to feel disappointed - but the day is young. Weeeeeeeeee

Made it to dinner break- 60k stack. Avg 40k. 27 remaining.?8 paid. Top 4$K.

Running good in life - cards? Meh....

Ok - so overall awesome day thanks to my encounter with Daniel Negreanu.

Cards wise - had fun but was crushed in deep tourney and crushed at cash by one guy. He either rivered his draw (2x) with all the money in - or he would just out flop me 2 pr versus his better 2 pr. Decided it was not profitable to grind tonight. 7 more days to make it up.

Playing At the legendary Binions tomorrow in a women's event with my Pals Sonja and Tammy. Looking forward to that...and then my 1500$ WSOP on Tuesday. Can't wait. Might as well get my bad run out now so I can run like a god on Tuesday. :-)

Heat is amazing. Lungs still not 100% but getting there.:-)

Day 2 - Venetian

Well - I was out in possibly record speed for me on a deepstacks. Lol kept running into really big hands when I had only big hands. Kept getting away but then out. Meh. Walking strip- hot hot hot. Happy lungs.

Playing 4:00 pm deepstack I think. Or napping. Or cash. So many options.

Keep running into great Calgary folks- Tammy-Dale. Too fun.

Is it weird that I am showing my photo with Daniel N. to anyone who even just catches my eye on the street?

World Series of Poker Experience 2011

Hi Folks,

I am heading to Las Vegas this week after chopping 2nd place in a private poker series in Calgary. I will be playing 2 tournaments with my winnings - sharing the proceeds 60/40 with the rest of the group. I will play likely one more tourney on my own dime.

Staying at the Rio - home of the WSOP. I am expecting to see several of my poker pals down there. Meaghan flys down on the 1st for the weekend.

After 2.5 weeks of some weird lung affliction and getting mostly caught up on my work - I am ready to go!!!
